1962 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

METAL owner John Daniel Walters performed a full pan-off restoration on this 1962 Deluxe Karmann Ghia. Only New Old Stock components and period interior upholstery were used to compliment the integrity of this hand built coach. Triple plated chrome bright work and stainless beauty rings wrapped with Coker bias-ply rubber accentuate the flawless two-tone paint scheme only found on these Deluxe models.

Brass Pulls

METAL created these unique Nouveau-Oriental handles for a customer in California. This cabinet hardware is made of brushed brass with half-inch risers.

Zinc Bar

METAL worked with a local builder to design and craft the metal work for this custom bar including a distressed zinc top with vintage cold-rolled sheet. The bar resides at The Wood Shop in Clarkston, Michigan.

Cummins Engine Sculpture

METAL owner John Daniel Walters designed and fabricated this formalized interpretation of a Cummins 15 Liter turbo diesel engine. John used CAD design with water jet machine architecture to create this 1:1 scale model using 9 gauge steel plate. This work emulates the Moiré effect and was displayed as part of the Neo-Pastoral Exhibit at WORK•DETROIT.

Mel the T-Rex

METAL brought a client’s imagination to life with this 8.5-foot tall by 15-foot long, half-inch steel plate T-Rex. Using CAD engineered drawings and renderings, METAL designed and fabricated a modular assembly with UV-resistant satin and powder coat, which was transported and installed in the client’s yard.
